About 1xiv
1xiv is an open-access archive for research papers. It is modelled after arXiv, with one deliberate difference: it is small on purpose.
Who can join?
Members register with a university email address (.edu) and confirm it by following an emailed link. Your institution's domain is shown beside your name on comments, so discussions happen between identifiable academics.
Discussion
Every paper has an open comment thread, supporting Markdown and LaTeX, where members can ask questions, point out corrections and suggest connections. Comments carry names and institutions, and moderators remove abusive content.
Subjects
We currently accept papers in:
- Condensed Matter (cond-mat) — Statistical mechanics and strongly correlated electrons.
- General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology (gr-qc) — General relativity, gravitational waves, black holes, cosmology, and approaches to quantum gravity.
- High Energy Physics - Theory (hep-th) — Formal aspects of quantum field theory, string theory, supersymmetry and supergravity, holography, and quantum aspects of gravity.
- Mathematical Physics (math-ph) — Mathematical methods and rigorous results motivated by physics.
- Quantum Physics (quant-ph) — Quantum information and computation, quantum foundations, and quantum optics.
More subject areas will open over time.
