Deadlines and announcement schedule
New papers are announced in batches, once a day, the same way arXiv does it. All times below are Eastern Time (America/New_York): EST in winter, EDT in summer, so the clock times stay the same all year.
The rule
- Submission deadline: 14:00 ET on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- Announcement: 20:00 ET on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
- When you press Submit, your paper is scheduled for the first announcement after the deadline your submission made. A submission received exactly at the deadline is still in time.

Times are Eastern. There is no announcement on nights that are not listed, so a Friday-afternoon submission appears on Monday evening.

What happens in between
- Your paper is not public until its announcement and has no identifier yet. Identifiers (
YYMM.NNNNN) are assigned at announcement, in the order papers were submitted. - Only you can see it on your Submit page, including the PDF.
- You can un-submit before the announcement to edit it. That returns your yearly slot; submitting again schedules it afresh, so a paper edited after today's deadline goes out at the next announcement.
- The yearly slot is taken when you press Submit, not at announcement, so you cannot queue two new papers for the same night.
- New versions of an announced paper follow the same schedule. Readers keep seeing the current version until the new one is announced.
- Metadata-only edits (journal reference, DOI) and withdrawals take effect immediately.
Late or missed
If the server is down at announcement time, everything that was due is announced as soon as it is back, and each paper keeps its official announcement date and its place in the identifier order.
